The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #65 - "I" is for Inappropriate

Happy Summer Saturday Everyone!  Today is a pretty special day for us the design team Sisters over at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers because we all have been waiting since January for this particular challenge! Today Edna is going Waaaay outside her box for the "I" is for Inappropriate challenge!
Now for those of you who don't know, at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers (previously the Drunken Stampers) we are all about "How sarcastically funny can you be without going over the line?"  But for this challenge we are Going Over The Line! Grin, and some of us are going waaaay over... Here is the mixed-media, tri-fold card I created and a few of the steps along the way... Enjoy!!!

Ha!Ha!Ha!... Did I make you smile? Did I make you Laugh? (Really! What were you THINKING?! Grin)  You should have seen my hubby face when I showed him this card.  At first he was VERY shocked and after reading the first three panels he stopped and looked at  me and said "What kind of card IS this?!" and then he got to the last panel and actually burst out laughing - and isn't that the point? Now for those of you that are interested the following are some photos about my process:
I started with a strip of 12"x6" cardstock which I scored at 4" and 8" to create three 4-inch panels
I applied bits of pages from my 1902 Dictionary... the paper is Amazing... using my Liquitex glossy medium - it is a varnish but has amazing adhesive qualities and does not make my 100 year-old paper wet.  Also, the glossiness is very subtle and accepts paints, sprays and inks very nicely.
and then I really went over the top and added some images from my precious 1901 Eaton's Catalogue - images from the sewing section of course - Grin.
I found this catalogue in a second hand store on Vancouver Island and it is one of my most prized mixed-media possessions.  I have a hard time making myself use it because the images are so divine - but I keep thinking, "If I use that page it is Gone!" so it's hard to make myself use it all.
Next I rubbed in some color using my Mister Huey's sprays. I love the vibrancy of the colors plus they stain the paper really well and don't wash away as easily as some of the other sprays.
You just spray on and rub off. And then for a bit of muted sparkle I rubbed on some gold paint around the edges of each panel...
I used my "Stamping on Tissue Technique" (Go HERE for more details on that) and my typerwriter alpha stamps to add my words, and the images are a Unity Itty Bitty stamp called "Three Stick Chicks"...
And finallly, to make the words Pop, I faded the background using white gesso with a dry brush and I used a black pen to doodle and scribble all over the panels until my little inner voice said I was done.

This is going to be a Birthday card for someone who is having a really BIG Number birthday... Because I used 100 year-old paper and because that saying is just so appropriate. And then the image of that old lady lighting her ciggy from her 100th birthday cake candles?! Seriously Perfect! (Oh Yeah, these images are both stamps from Viva Las Vegas Stamps "Curler Lady Smoking" )
So you really must pop over to our blog today to see all the Awesome-ly, Over-the-Line, Inappropriate cards created by my Sisters this week because THIS is why we all joined! Grin And why not join in? Go break out your inappropriate stamps - You know the ones - you Love what it says but if you used it WHO could you give that card to?!  You have until Friday, August 19th at midnight to link up your "I" is for Inappropriate project... Come Play!

AS always, thank you for popping in to see what I am up to and Please DO leave me a comment if you like what you see - I read every single one!

    1. Me toooo... Grin. I was at a bit of a loss for how I was going to create something for this challenge that didn't offend ... and then I came across this bit of verse (the seed) and the idea for a tri-fold card which revealed the verse a bit a time popped into my head in its entirety. It was a lot of fun to make! Thanks Ms. Jane for the visit and the comment!

    1. Thank you Mimi! and yes it sounds like you know what I mean about how HARD it is to use your treasures. And if you can find it... the Liquitex matte liquid medium is even better, but for me very hard to find. Thanks for the visit and the comment!

    1. Oh Gail, I bet the look on your face as you were going through the first few panels was the same one my hubby had on his face when I had him read the completed card... he ws pretty much horrified by the third panel... but then he burst out laughing and had to go back and re-read the panels from that "different perspective"! I am hoping you had the same experience! Grin Thanks for the visit and the lovely comment

    1. Well WELCOME Ms. Desperatehousewife! and Thank you for taking the time to leave me such a nice long, lovely comment. And How is your new life going? (I really want to know!) I am LOVING being home full-time living my life-long dream of getting up and being creative every day, but I am NOT loving the hormonal fluctuations, the crazy Blank brain, the body that now looks like an apple-pear and those chin hairs! Giggle... I think my hubby is most afraid of those CHIN HAIRS that seem to grow overnight and reach out and tickle him under the chin! Well I guess if everything was perfect we woudn't know how GOOD, good is, because the reast of it is pretty spectacular! Thanks for being a new follower and I hope to see you back again soon! (hugs)
