What's On YOur Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) #390

Oooh Happy Wednesday Ms. Julia Dunnit and WOYWW Deskers and everyone else!  (Go HERE to find out what WOYWW is all about and how to get in on the action!) I am so excited to type this post  today because who knew I could get this much done in one very short week... GRIN.... but FIRST ... here is my desk... seriously no staging... Can you tell?
I have been in a HUGE creative zone all week, not only meeting deadlines, but also working on about six other pieces all at the same time, just because I am in the Zone!  I am only sleeping about six hours a night and I jump out of bed with my head full of ideas that germinated as I slept, grab my coffee and race down to the studio to create more stuff!  It's a little bit scary and I keep thinking about Picasso! Has this ever happened to you?

And what's this? You ask.. well in the middle of all of this creativity I decided to attempt my first process video... I actually had to setup a THIRD six-foot table to create a clean space to film on but Iwanted to share how I made these awesome ornaments using Magenta Nuance pigment powders (they are sort of like brusho's) because everyone go so excited about these cards...

So Go HERE to see the video post (and I have to say - I'm kinda cute, Grin).  I used a very professional and complicated set up to record me - (NOT!)  My Nokia phone on selfie stick stuck in a pot jammed full of towels so it wouldn't move.  (saw it on YouTube)

Since I couldn't see what I was filming I drew a black square on the paper-covered table top to keep me in the camera, and tried to be clear and concise and professional as I explained what I was doing...Yup...NOPE!  And that is when I discovered that I cannot be in my Creative brain and my Talking brain at the same time because I think in Pictures and under stress, the words don't match the pictures in my head!

But I think I am entertaining and definitely cute and I share waaaay too much... but that is part of the entertaining bit.  Grin .... So go check it out ... it's only 8 minutes long and totally worth a visit.  I cannot wait to do another one, but BETTER.  I spent most of today creating a color system for my powders - because the color stickers keep falling off (you can see why I NEED to do this in the video)
And, as you can see it is a very simple system: I added numbers to the pots using a sharpie marker and created a color chart, looking up colors online since they are not marked on the tubs (Really Magenta?!?)  I think this is going to work just fine.
And finally in case you haven't seen my previous post, I am doing an ART giveaway on my blog - open for comments all this week - because I am feeling grateful and becasue I want to share some of my joy and gratitude with the world...Go HERE to read my post and to leave a comment if you want a chance to have one of these.

So that's it today...except for my now mandatory photo of something wonderful in my yard...
I captured this sunset over the mountains on the Idaho, USA border through the trees in our backyard, using the camera on my Nokia Cell Phone... I LOVE THIS PHONE!   (this photo has not been altered in any way)

Wonderful, Wonderful Wednesday (WOYWW #389)

Happy Wednesday everyone... today I can't wait to share my desk, more of my Christmas cards and a few photos of this wonderful corner of the world I live in for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday... (Go HERE to find out all about what it is and HERE to find out how to join in.)
This is the area I am sharing today.  I call it my "messy space" which means the space where I do all my messy,  inky, painty, mixed media stuff, but also it always seems to be a bit of a mess... Grin
And for the next few weeks I have converted my stamping table into my "card drying table" since every Christmas card is being made all glittery with Stickles.  Now, here is a sneak peak of some finished cards...
If you read last week's post you might remember that I shared that I make as many Christmas cards as I feel like making - and then I stop.
To date I have made 30 cards and I am still going strong (which means I am still having fun) so you can expect to see more card reveals next week.
And finally I will be doing an entire blog post about these cards (I made 10 of them), created using my Magenta dye ink powders (similar to Brushos)... and a stamping and heat embossing technique...
Totally worth an entire blog post don't you think?
And I got the idea when playing around with my powders produced this lovely card background.  Which I am hoarding until I find just the perfect card idea to use it on.
And now for those photos: this is the river valley view from my backyard now that the leaves have fallen, the rain has stopped and the mist is rising.
We have been having an unusual amount of rain this week, but it stopped briefly yesterday and the sun came out and lit up the entire yard until it sparkled like it was covered in diamonds...
I grabbed my camera and just got carried away taking photos and trying to capture the light and the sparkle and the beauty...
and then I just had to see how close I could take a close up of the drips on the red rowan berries...

And finally some shots of our 50 year old willow tree which has finally turned yellow and decided to start dropping its leaves...
So that's it for me this week... thanks for popping in to visit and if you are new to this event you will want to pop on over to the Stamping Ground to visit a few other desks!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) #388 And "The Morning After Trump Becomes President of the USA?!

It's Wednesday... but not the usual Happy Wednesday for me because it is the morning after the US Elections and Donald Trump just became President of the USA.  I live in Canada and only 15 minutes from the US border...
I was not feeling very secure or very happy when I awoke this morning, but as I was sitting at my desk trying to decide what to write for today's WOYWW post I experienced the most amazing sunrise...
A magnificent scene of the mist rising from the river valley as the sun rose from behind the mountains on the Canada/USA border.  A sign that all will be OK?  That's how I am choosing to see it!
So Happy "What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday" Everybody!  (If you  are new to this weekly event over at the Stamping Grounds, go HERE to find out more about this wonderful weekly blog hop).  So now On To MY Desk!
As you can see I am in full swing with my Christmas card and Christmas tag making.  Christmas card making is a labour of love for me and I truly enjoy making cards to send to family, to friends I have hugged and to friends that I have only cyber hugged.
I am a little late this year as I usually start making my cards in August while camping, but this year the new house and huge, new garden really put a kink into my schedule.
I make cards until I don't feel like making cards any more; it may be 10 or it may be 100, every year is different.  I like to make card families - three to six cards that are similar - and then I move on to a new idea.  I have a LOT of Christmas card ideas.
The only problem with this method of making and sending cards is that I don't remember who was sent which card... grin, but everyone seems to like what they get. (Note: I am still working on those shaker cards... they seem like a LOT of work!)  Now for those of you that popped in last week and giggled over my enthusiastic excitement about my playdate and wished me well, I  thought I would share.
Yes, we had fun and YES! it absolutely exceeded my expectations as we played and messed about all day long with inky paper towels and paint and ink and stamps to create 8x10 mixed media canvases.
This is my canvas, still a work in progress but isn't it a fantastic technique?  I love that you never know where it's going to end up.
And finally I am sharing the beginnings of an idea birthed as I was applying some excess paint into my Art Journal, left over from creating Christmas card backgrounds.  What do  you think about this background and this stamp?  Come back next week to see how it turns out!

What's On YOUR Workdesk Wednesday #387

Happy WEDNESDAY everyone and Hello DESKERS and other WOYWW hoppers (the terms we use for the regulars who pop all over the world to peek into other people's spaces...grin)! Go HERE if you want to know more about this wonderful weekly adventure).  I apologize now for all the typos as my fingers fly across the board to get this out at the crazy hour of 5:30 am where I live... But I cannot miss sharing my desk today because just like Our Fearless Leader - Julia Dunnit over at the Stamping Ground - I have started my Christmas Cards!!! Grin  So here is my desk and then just a few photos of a few things I captured from my week:
Here are my two desks pushed together to create a huge space of 8 feet long and 7 feet wide and I still don't have one single inch of useable space available... Grin
The Christmas card creating has begun (grin) and YES this is my attempt at a shaker card!  Why start with something easy (like that lovely snowman stamp I acquired at a garage sale this summer) when you can be this frustrated? (Bigger Grin)  And do I even know anyone I love enough to give this card to when I am done?? (Biggest Grin)
Now this is a piece of my space that Haven't shared to often, it was the wall unit that used to house our TV but did not fit into the television space in our new home so I got it!  I it is usually a stamping station, but at Christmas the Die Cutting Machine gets this space.   Note:  All those binders above contain stamps
On the back wall you can see my attempt at staging the wonderful tags I made for my next STAMPlorations blog post for the 4th (so SHHHHHH, don't tell but I am giving you guys an early peek because Julia mentioned sharing Christmas Ideas)
How about creating a tag so beautiful that you can wrap your gift in brown paper and the recipient will hang the tag on their tree for years to come?  I was only supposed to make one or two of these but I was having so much fun that I ended up with 15 of them!  You will have to pop back for the tutorials... but some are Mixed Media style tags and some are Dollar Store Bling and they are all incredibly beautiful!
And now for the "other shots"
Here is a photo I snapped this week with my Phone (a Nokia) of the mist rising from the river valley and enveloping our yard... What a shot!
Another amazing phone shot... the full moon was covered by a cloud that was almost exactly the shape of the North American continent, including the big dip at the top of the Hudsons Bay and the long tail at the bottom of Southern Mexico... and the cloud was just translucent enough for the moon to shine through it and light it all up ... Seriously I took this with my PHONE!
And finally, I do believe, as the weather has gotten colder that my garden gnomes seem to have moved into my home... and I discovered that Canadian Garden Gnomes seem to like Red Wine! Grin

And finally I want to share these beautiful cards I made at a wonderful card class I attended last week.  There is an amazing woman who has been holding these monthly classes for the past 12 years and I think I have found my Tribe!  She is acutally coming over to play at my house TODAY so I have to fly!!! (but I am giddy with excitement about  a play date with a kindred spirit, can you tell?)
HAPPY WOYWW EVERYONE!
