Well two weeks has just flown by and it's time again for another Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge. This year Edna is really pushing us to dig deep into our stash and for this challenge she wants to see EMBOSSING!
Now I chose to go with heat embossing on this 4x6 mixed media board canvas I created, inspired by the colors in the MUSE Challenge #161 and showcasing my brand new STAMPlorations stamp set called Trendy Birds. I am loving these clear stamps that give me such a beautiful, clean impression.
And I used Stampendous embossing powders for all my heat embossing as they are my very favorite powders because of how easily they melt, how well they stick and how fantastic they look.
My background was created on 140lbs watercolor paper by gently rubbing my Ranger distress inks through my "The Crafters Workshop" stencil using a blending tool. I then stamped and embossed the poppy image right onto the paper (Donna Downey Unity Stamp - Wild and Free). I added more color to the poppy by lifting ink right out of the distress ink pad using a wet brush and applying it to the poppy image, staying inside the white embossed lines.
I stamped my bird on some aqua colored card stock using VersaMark ink and white opaque embossing powder, which I then cut out and placed on top of the Kaiser wooden leaves that I had altered by covering them in VersaMark ink, dipping them in a light olive glossy embossing powder and heating until the powder melted, creating my own embellishments.
Lastly I mounted my paper on a 4x6 board canvas painted with teal Silks Acrylic Glaze and added this stamped saying using the tissue paper stamping method.
So that's it... Lots of embossing on this one! Now, please do pop on over to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers to see what the rest of the design team created, and if you want to join in all the fun you have until April 29th to create something using embossing (dry or heat) and link it up! You know we pick a Queen and Princess of Snark for every challenge.
I am also linking this project up to the Stamplorations Flash Stencil Linky Party and their April Mixed Media challenge "

Your card is gorgeous. I love how you displayed the products you used.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sistaaah! And I came up with this method 'cuz my computer is FAR away from my studio and I was always running to get names and stuff when I was typing my post. Then one day I thought "Why not take a photo to look at?" and then I thought "Why not USE the photo instead of typing it all out?" Brilliant or WHAT?!? Grin
DeleteThis canvas looks AMAZING, Lynne! LOVE the colors you chose to work with, and just look at all the embossing you got going on! Beautiful!!

ReplyDeleteOh Thank YOU (blushing) ... it IS rather nice, isn't it? You know how when we are creating something that wee voice can be so critical? Well this time I just ignored it and when I was finished I looked at my canvas and could actually say in my head... "Wow! Nice Job on this one Girlie!"
DeleteBeautiful card. I like seeing you unleashing your inner mixed media diva! Maybe for Christmas you can get a computer in the craft room. But the supply photo looks nice, too.
ReplyDeleteWell just to share... the computer WAS in my space until "Mr. Awesome" (who is not working right now) decided he needs to be on the computer every morning ... which put him right in the middle of my ROOM!... I do love him but he has such LARGE ENERGY sooooo the computer HAD to move - Grin (TMI? I never know!)
