Hello Everyone.... I am over-the-moon excited to be participating in this first ever Blog Hop with my Snarky Sisters and to be introducing Rubber Dance Art Stamps, a home-based stamping company out of Norway run by the awesome Bibi Lindahl!

We have found our people!
There is a one-woman company, Rubber Dance Art Stamps, in far off Norway that speaks our language. I don't mean English. I mean SNARK! She makes a whole rubber plate of snark! This divine product of snarkitude must be shared, and we have accepted that challenge.

And Finally - Here is the card I created using the sentiment "667 - Evil and then some"

I used two sets of my Dyan Reaveley stamps, "Background Love" for the flowers and "Bits of This" for the face, and all of my Ranger Dylusion sprays to create this little bit of fun and loveliness.

I painted in the face using my Derwent Inktense Blocks, because the color will not run when it has dried.

Creating the flowers was easy, I sprayed a sheet of watercolor paper with my dylusion sprays, stamped the flowers using Ranger's Archival ink, and then cut them out and layered them all around the card and face image, using foam pop dots to create some dimension.

And of course, no card of mine would be complete without that layer of Ranger's Stickles and CTMH Liquid Glass, and some Want2Scrap jewels and pearls finished it off.

Welcome Sweet Little One!

I'm firing off a really quick post today and sharing the baby card I created for my lovely niece who is expecting in November.  I am So EXCITED!  Since my niece was raised on a diary farm and loves everything "country-style" I wanted to make her something rustic and homey and "a little bit country" so this is the card I created.

Rustic, with a homey, country feel, but still a baby card!  I LOVE IT!

Faber Castell Gelatos AND Stamping on Tissue Paper!

Well the inspiration generated in me this week by both the Unity Stamp/Faber Castell Blog Hop AND the Craft Stamper's challenge this month (stamping on tissue paper) came together in a Perfect Storm of Inspiration and produced this wonderful card:

So I am entering a second submission to The Craft Stamper's September Take It Make It Challenge, something I have never done before, but How can I NOT Share this wonderful technique? Grin So here's how it all came together:

Step 1: I used my gelato's to color this stamp by Unity Stamp and sprayed my stamp with water and stamped onto 140lbs watercolor paper.

Step 2: After I was finished making my background image I re-sprayed my stamp with water and stamped off the excess color onto a piece of tissue paper and put this aside to dry.

Step 3: Next stamp the image again onto a piece of white tissue paper using Ranger's black Archival Ink, because it is waterproof and will not run when I use liquid Matte Medium to apply overtop of my colored image.

This enables me to line up second stamped image perfectly overtop the colored image instead of crossing my fingers and re-stamping...Grin

Step 4: Now I add the colored stamped tissue overtop of the stamped tissue image to enhance the color and voila... It's ready to mount and embellish as you desire.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #17 - "D" is for DISTRESSING!

it's time for another challenge from the "Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers" and this bi-monthly challenge is all about "DISTRESSING" - and you have until October 3rd to create someting DISTRESSING and link it up for a chance to be "The Queen of Snark" Grin.

You know I have 10 different kinds of Core'dinations paper pads but I NEVER use them - How about you? Core-dinations products are my favorite for distressing because they make it so easy and make you look like you know what you are doing... So this challenge was a great one for reminding me that I have some GREAT product here and I Need to use them.

 

I created four items for this post all using a technique that involves the Core-dinations 6x6 Vintage Collection, Dina Wakley and Artistcellar 6x6 stencils, my sanding block, Distress Ink, and of course Stickles and Liquid Pearl and Liquid Glass, but you should be expecting those by now....grin

Here's how it works: Place your sandable paper over top of your stencil and using sandpaper or a sanding block rub gently until the image appears, it will be almost like the shadow of your image. I like using the sanding block because you get a more even image

Now place your stencil on top of your paper and using a distress ink the same color as your paper, ink you image overtop of the embossed image...

Now you can add a sentiment and embellish as you like, I like Stickles and Liquid glass and for these images, liquid pearl...

I like these so much that I decided to mount them on some cardboard I painted first with black gesso, attach some complimentary fiber and charms and hang them on my wall in my studio.

Playing with My Unity Stamps And Faber-Castell Gelatos

All of this week the awesome design team at Unity Stamps have been featuring stamping techniques using Faber-Castell products and I'm jumping on board with a technique that I have wanted to play with for a while - coloring my stamp with my gelato's then spraying the stamp with water and stamping on watercolor paper to create a watercolor effect... Swoon!  Here's my completed card

And here's how I did it: 1. Color your stamp with some gelatos and then spray your stamp with a mister.   Note:  the  more water you use the more "watercolor effect" you will get.

2. stamp onto paper... I used 120lbs water color paper because it will absorb the water and gelato color better than regular cardstock.  I used a heat gun to fast forward the drying process  Note:  I dabbed off colors that were running together and creating muddiness.

3. You can also recolor the wet stamp with more gelato and re-spray for deeper color and even more of a water color effect.

After our stamped images have dried you can do many things, like stamp again over top with a darker colored ink, or stamp on tissue-paper, but I'm saving That particular technique for my next post!

My First Prima "Bloom Girl" and A Craft Stamper Challenge...

I am over-the-moon excited to share this project with all of you - my first attempt with a Prima Bloom Girl stamp by Jennie Dougherty using a twist on the "stamping on tissue" technique to create this mixed-media-on-cardboard gem...

The inspiration was provided by the September challenge over at CRAFT STAMPER... and the first place winner will be published in the UK's number one stamping magazine, so wish me LUCK!  But whether I win or not matters NOT, because just look at what I created in one glorious day of creativity! ... Happy Dance...

I used Golden acrylic paints and Liquitex light modeling paste colored with LuminArt Primary Elements powders smeared through my current favorite Dyan Reaveley Dylusions stencil - Small Bubbles - on a piece of 6x8 inch cardboard.  After everything had dried I sprayed the entire background with Perfect Pears Heirloom Gold Mist and dried it with my heat gun as it ran into the cracks and crevices.  This accented the texture and really made my bubbles pop.

Then I stamped my image on tissue paper using Ranger Archival Ink, because this ink won't run when it gets wet.  I applied my image to the textured background using Golden's Liquid Multi-Medium with a very light hand.  I find this product the one to use on tissue or napkins because it doesn't shred the material, and it takes paint and pen very nicely when it has dried.

I colored my image using Derwent Inktense sticks as paint, because - again - this product, once dried, will not run or transfer color when you layer more colors.  Now at this point, because I had lost some of the detail of my image, I stamped the image on tissue paper a second time and glued it overtop of my colored image to bring back the outline details.

Then I went to town with my Rangers Stickles and Liquid Pearl and accented everything to create texture and dimension... You could say that I painted her with Stickles... Grin.  I used my .3 Staedtler pigment liner to bring back any lines that were covered up, and my favorite Signo Uni-ball white gel pen to add highlights.  Two different Unity Stamp sets provided my sentiments, which I again stamped on tissue paper and adhered with Multi-Medium...

It's Dylusions (Dyan Reaveley) Day...

I've decided to add a monthly Dylusion post to my blog where I use Dylusion products - mostly from my horde of Dyan Reaveley stamps - which I will post in the Dylusion's Facebook Challenge Site  - (It's a private site so you have to request to to join).  

Because just in case you haven't noticed...

I . LOVE . DYAN . REAVELEY

When I first discovered Dyan's stamps I felt the way Dorothy must have felt when she first saw the Emerald City of OZ - "I'm HERE!"  I really do believe that my brain thinks just like HER brain and I love her sarcastic sense of humour and whimsical, avant-garde style... So like ME! (Grin), 

Besides, I have lots and LOTS of Dyan Reaveley and Dylusion stuff so it's about time I started to use it.  So here is the first of what I hope will be many more creations using my Dyan Reaveley and Dylusion products...

To create this card I used three of Dyan's stamp sets: "How Does Your Garden Grow; Ruby Rainbow; and Around the Edge. I sprayed 140lbs watercolor paper with my Ranger Dylusion sprays and stamped it with the different elements I wanted; I then cut everything out and mixed and matched them on the remainder of my sprayed watercolor paper.  I used foam pops dots under the umbrella and boots and of course some Ranger's Stickles and CTMH Liquid Glass give it that little bit of sparkle I need, and a black pen provided the final finishing touch that I think make my cards POP!

All this to create a bit of happy in this uplifting card being sent out to a friend of mine in need of a hug today...

It's a NBUS Challenge! (Never-Before-Used-Schtuff!)

"Hello Everyone... I'm Back AGAIN - Grin - and today I am sharing these four totally cute cards I created using three stamp sets that I have had for years, but have NEVER used... (I KNOW right?)  and this is all thanks to an AMAZING blogger I stumbled across this year and just have to share with you,

Ms. Darnell J. Knauss of DJ Kard Kreations!

I love so many things about this awesome woman and her blog... things like:

- She came  up with the acronym:  NBUS (never-been-used-schtuff) and holds challenges devoted to it;

- That she signs off with "Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS!*" *LITS (Life is too short);

 - That she named her craft place "The Playhouse" and it's totally cute;

 - That she has a "Friends Corner" where she introduces the blogs of new members of her Blog... Like she did for me HERE! in this March Blog Post ... (scroll down to her "Friends Corner" - grin)

- and Finally the thing I LOVE THE MOST about her is that when she finds a card she loves and "scraplifts" the idea, that she then BLOGS about it - shows the original - shows her version - and gives the owner CREDIT... seriously, seriously COOL! 

One day I want to travel to Texas Ooops, I mean Northern  California and meet this woman... happy sigh.    Darnell this one's for YOU...

So here are my cards created because Ms. Darnell is having another NUBS Challenge and I want to participate... 

All these cards were created from scraps of leftover paper, some already sprayed with dylusions inks, (see the coral?) I just stamped right on top of pre-sprayed paper and cut them out.. cool huh? 

Plus I used two Dylusion stamps sets by Dyan Reaveley that I HAD to have; that I spent CRAZY money on and that have never been inked by me! grin

And I used these awesome typewriter sayings that I bought in a dollar store in 2009 and have NEVER USED! So THANK YOU Ms. Darnell... you are making me use my NBUS! Grin...

LifeBook 2015.. Whoo HOO!

Well here I am again, making a heroic effort to re-establish regular postings to my blog... (did you MISS ME?)

So, what is Lifebook?  It is the labour of love of British artist Tamara LaPorte and to give a brief explanaion, you will experience a year-long journey into the world of mixed media art where you will watch weekly videos by artists from all around the world and learn from them as you create your monthly project with the bonus of additional weekly projects to try if you have the time.  It is like getting a year-long art education, and as I already mentioned, I found it LIFE CHANGING!

And an added bonus is receiving information on how to use many, many different products, most of which I already had in my stash but had never really used...

Girls Just Wanna Have FUN!

It's been a while since I've posted and I'm sure you will be seeing a catch up blog post very soon, but for today I want to share a card I whipped up really quickly so I could play along with this week's challenge over a Quirky Crafts AND get something in for Unity Stamp's weekly "Friends with Flair"... 

The challenge over at Quirky Crafts is Red, Red Wine so how could I NOT play (Grin) so I pulled out one of my favorite Unity Stamps - the Itty Bitty "3 Stick Chicks" and robbed the saying from my Brooke Girl Unity Stamp and voila... 

 

Design Notes: the background and borders are Dyan Reaveley stamps and I used water color pencils and dylusion sprays for color and of course stickles and CTMH Liquid Glass for that little bit of pop and sparkle...
