Mixed Up Mag - Rubber Dance Stamp post

Hello everyone, I am here today for Mixed Up Magazine to share this wooden panel which I created to showcase  a stamp from Rubber Dance called Blossoming Rose.

It was the quote by Anais Nin included with this image that spoke right to my heart and caused me to want to create something truly special to showcase these powerful words...
I began with a wooden panel which I had painted with some tinted crackle paint, a new-to-me product from Deco Art that I am absolutely in love with!!

And then I decided to take a chance and see if I could stamp and heat emboss on wood like I do on paper... (using Versafine black ink and CTMH detail clear embossing powder), and it worked beautifully.

Look how crisp and clear this image stamped and how the clear embossing powder created raised and glossy lines which are now cells I can fill with color.
For this next step I decided to use my Silks, an acrylic glaze from ColourArte that is both brilliantly coloured and full of metallic shimmer.

I let the color fill the cells and allowed it to pool and blend all on its own.  Another wonderful quality of these Silks is that the colours layer on top of each other, rather than mixing together, and you can see all the different tones and shades through each layer.

And because these are glazes rather than paints, they tint rather than cover over and the crackled wood grain is still visible through the color...
And finally I added a border of my very favourite Golden fluid acrylic gold paint which, for me, not only finishes off the piece but also makes everything richer.

So I do hope you enjoyed my little photo tutorial, and if this inspires you to create something of your own, please do share it with us in the Mixed Up Mag Mixer facebook group.  And now here are all the products I used to create this tribute to Anais Nin's wonderful quote:

A Storage Box - Mixed Media Style

Hello Peeps!  I have to get this post out quickly if I am going to make the deadline for Rubber Dance Stamp  monthly challenge!  You know, they give us an entire month to submit but I am ALWAYS scrambling on the very last day to get it done, even though I have been thinking about it all month long! (Grin)  It is always a color challenge and you have to use stamping on your project, but those are the only limitations - here is this  month's theme:
Challenge Link HERE
And HERE is What I Created for my brand  new studio space... to store my ColorBox inks and handles and foam heads:
If you follow me you know that I have just moved into our "Forever Home" and Mr. Awesome has just finished building me my DREAM Studio space. (GO HERE for a video tour and photos).  So I decided to alter this cool cardboard box to create some pretty storage for my new room.  For the Rubber Dance Challenge you don't have to use Rubber Dance stamps but I did on this one 'cuz I LOVE their stuff.  I am featuring the "Woman Collage" set, which I have been drooling over since I got it but I haven't had time to play with until today.
I started with a cardboard box which I covered in Inky paper towels from my stash of towels that I use to blot when I am spraying and which I NEVER throw away.  I am using watered down Matte Mod Podge to adhere them to the box. I stamped my images using black Stayzon ink onto white tissue paper salvaged from a shoe box,  and applied these using the same watered down Mod Podge (after the inky towels had dried)
I then added quotes from the Rubber Dance "Something Wonderful" stamp set, (using the tissue paper method) and then accented all that wonderful texture from the wrinkly papers using white paint, applied with my fingers and Stayzon inks in Merlot and Chai, gently rubbed all over the edges.  Here are some close ups of each side...
From this angle you can see how I incorporated the March challenge color scheme - and Yes I already had paper towels in my stash with these exact colors... Meant to be?

So that's my project... Inspirational, Pretty on  my Shelf and I created it with stuff that would have gone into the garbage... How Cool is that?

I am also including this in the Stampotique Designers Challenge for this month - What's Old is New Again #238 because they want to see something "Repurposed, Re-used, Re-Cycled or Altered - and I think I hit all four of those!
As always thanks for popping in to see what I am up to and please do leave me a comment if you like what you are seeing!

Cheers...
Lynne Mizera

And Finally - Here is the card I created using the sentiment "667 - Evil and then some"

I used two sets of my Dyan Reaveley stamps, "Background Love" for the flowers and "Bits of This" for the face, and all of my Ranger Dylusion sprays to create this little bit of fun and loveliness.
I painted in the face using my Derwent Inktense Blocks, because the color will not run when it has dried.
Creating the flowers was easy, I sprayed a sheet of watercolor paper with my dylusion sprays, stamped the flowers using Ranger's Archival ink, and then cut them out and layered them all around the card and face image, using foam pop dots to create some dimension.
And of course, no card of mine would be complete without that layer of Ranger's Stickles and CTMH Liquid Glass, and some Want2Scrap jewels and pearls finished it off.

So thanks for joining my sisters and me in our first EVER Hop today ... Your next stop will be KAREN, and don't forget to leave me a comment before you go!!!
Cheers, Scrapbook Lynne
