Hello and Happy National Coloring Day! I am excited to be one of the people who have been chosen to help release this second coloring book for adult crafters created by Shery Russ of STAMPlorations.
And because I was one of the first people to have received this lovely little book, I went to town and colored four pages using four different mediums... (and the patterns were so wonderful that I just could not stop coloring!)
And to help celebrate the new release of this book and this great day (because who doesn't love to color?) STAMPlorations is hosting a Blog Hop and Linky Party with a free coloring page to download and the chance to win a copy of this book!
Make sure you pop on over to STAMPlorations today for a list of all the prizes and to check out all the other inspiration my teamies have created.
Now here are my lovely pages and the mediums I used to color them and I will be creating something with each of them later this month, so stay tuned!
I started with my Prismacolor pencil crayons and used this page as an exercise in color by dividing it into four squares and coloring each with colors across from each other on the color wheel.
How Cool is THAT??
Next I used my Twinkling H2O's and painted this page of shimmery wonderful-ness!
The paper accepted my heavy handed use of water beautifully and although I did have to re-outline some of my lines in black I love the metallic effect I got from these little pots of glittery pigment.
This vibrant page was painted using my Gansai Tambi watercolor paints from Kuretake. I am in awe of intensity of color I get from these highly pigmented paints...
and again, water was no problem, although the page did dry a bit rumpled, so I ironed it with a hot iron (no steam) and it flattened out beautifully.
And this last page is my favorite of all my pages - Chalk and GelPens: I started with a base layer of chalk and applied the soft color with a cotton swab... notice how I created larger areas of solid color with the chalks?
I then sprayed my page with a coat of Blair Very Low Odor Workable Fixative. This not only sealed my page so the chalk would not rub off, but it also made the chalk colors pop! And now for the fun bit...
I pulled out all those dusty gel pens of mine and started filling in colored details, even adding a few lines and patterns as the mood struck...
It is difficult to get a photograph that shows the wonderful shimmery, glittery and glazed look the gel pens give over top of the chalk, but I will try...
And I had so much fun with this technique that I know I will be using it again. So that's it for today, I hope you enjoyed my little tribute to National Coloring Day and please do pop on over to STAMPlorations today for all the details about the Hop and Linky Party, and to download your free coloring page from this book!

WOW! What a fabulous series of colouring pages using a diversity of colouring mediums! I may have to 'get brave' to try some watercolouring in my book; fingers crossed that, if I do, I'll have something pretty to show for it! Thank you for the inspiration; such an honour to be showcasing Bloomtangled with you!

I'm back, having just read your "about me' page! How fabulous to discover we're fellow Canadians! I live in Cochrane, having moved there recently from Canmore and oh, how I love my brand-spanking new house and new town! Edmonton, however, is still 'home', as that's where my family is. If you ever come to Alberta, depending where you are, I'd love to meet for coffee....
