Another Mixed Media Canvas Creation for "Altered Eclectics"

Today I am excitedly revealing this canvas to you for my April post for the Altered Eclectics Design Team, a challenge site where ANYTHING GOES all month long, as long as it is NOT a card or ATC or scrapbook page (perfect for me Right?).  And here it is, an 8x8 inch board canvas using a mixed media technique that I am LOVING!

I am IN LOVE with this mixed media technique that I am developing which uses up lots of my product in many, many layers and also allows me to use my stamps, but in a very different way (Win! Win!)

But I what I am REALLY liking is the clean look of this technique.  I was finding some mixed media processes I tried were so busy and messy looking, that everything blended together into one hot mess with no one image to focus on.
But this technique, while still using lots of layers and product, allows me pull out and focus on my main images... Swoon!
Unfortunately I was so involved in the creation of this particular canvas that I totally forgot to take photos along the way, but you can see the entire process for this type of mixed media canvas HERE on a pictorial tutorial blog post I did for Unity Stamps' Blog Hop last month where I explained each step of this AWESOME Technique!

And Please do pop on over to the Altered Eclectics Blog to see what other amazing creations my design team mates have created.  They are all so talented that I feel honoured to be included in their group! And since you are there already, why not add one of your own creations?  ANYTHING GOES and you have the entire month of April to get something linked up for a chance to be the TOP PICK by the design team with all the Bragging Rights that go along with that! Grin

As always, thanks for popping in to see what I am up to and Please do leave a comment if you like what you see... I may not respond to every comment you leave, but I promise I read every one of them! (grin)

It's Another NBUS Challenge!

Whoooo HOOO! The lovely Darnell over at DJKardKreations is doing her 4th NBUS Challenge, and just in case you don't know NBUS means "Never Before Used Schtuff" and Darnell challenges us to create something using some of our stash that is still awaiting our usage.  I Love Darnell's Blog and her amazing card-making abilities and so I am jumping on her Challenge with both feet... Just under the wire (as usual... GRIN).
Also just under the wire I am using the color scheme for the monthly color challenge from Rubber Dance Art Stamps...
Another Challenge/Blog/Store that I love.  And just a reminder that they offer World Wide FLAT-RATE shipping for approximately $8 CAN...Check them out!  So here it is:
Taaa Daaa  I created this cute little thank you card using a set of Basic Grey Stamps that I have had FOREVER (at least three years) and my Kaleidoscope Ink in Melon.

I fussy cut and pasted my stamped images onto a piece of card stock covered in brayered-on ink -
Then I went to town with the Ranger's stickles and liquid pearl...
So I hope you like it, I know I do, and I love how it just Screams Spring and makes me happy!  So pop on over to Visit Darnell at DJKardKreations and Rubber Dance Art Stamps to see what everyone else is doing!
Cheers,

Welcome To My 1st Southern Girls Challenge Post

Welcome to my very first post as a "Southern Girl" for Southern Girl Challenges.

This week the challenge is to use your Dies and or Punches to create something wonderful and then Link up that project to our site... Wonderful prizes are available to be won as well as badges for your blog with bragging rights if you are selected by the design team as one of the top 5 (smile).  You will have until April 1st to come play and don't forget, no more that nine other link ups to qualify for the prize draw.

Here is my creation for this challenge.
I was planning on creating a card for this challenge but the project took on a life of it's own... and since I have been saving this photo for many years, waiting for the perfect inspiration, When Inspiration hit I Followed!
Inspiration was provided by this brand new Tattered Lace die designed by Stepanie Weightman for which I paid CRAZY money.
But when I cut out several images using my precious foil paper,  (precious because I cannot find it anywhere anymore and my hoard is getting smaller and smaller) and then reassembled the peacock on some Bazzil shimmery cardstock, and then filled the spaces with microfine glitter sealed with CTMH Liquid Glass... a card just wasn't a Big Enough project... but my Dance Photo WAS!
The paper and quotes all came from a Quick Quotes layout kit that I have been hoarding for more than five years.  I fussy cut out the flowers, layered them using foam tape and added Ranger's Liquid Pearl and Stickles to accent the flower centres.
After waiting so long so scrapbook this photo I am Over-the-Moon pleased with how this layout turned out and I hope it will provide some inspiration for you to create something with some dies or punches and join in on our challenge over at the Southern Girls Challenge Blog.  So come and see what all my fellow design team members on Team Trace created and come PLAY!
Thanks for popping by to see my latest creation and please do leave me a comment if you like what you see!

Stamps, Ink, Stickles and HEAT...

Oh for once I am ahead of the game and I created this tag for Unity Stamps' "Friends with Flair" in advance of Friday, I am usually scrambling on Friday to get something done for FRIENDS with FLAIR but not this week,  Happy Dance.  I am sharing this tag I created using another of my Unity Stamp Itty Bitty's that I have had for going on three years but has remained in a pristine, un-inked condition until now (Another one Bites the Dust - Yaaaaa Hoooo!)
and here is another pictorial tutorial showing all my steps and all my products so you can follow along... ENJOY!
 1. stamp and heat emboss the image

 2. add a background color
(close up of this step)
 3. accent some of the image with stickles and liquid pearl
Close up of this step while still wet
 4. Now heat your accented bits with a heat gun until they bubble and froth...

just look how when it cools it crinkles and has melted into itself... Swoon!
 5. And finally, using pigment ink, add a background image in a slightly darker color than your background inks and using archival quality pens outline and add details to make your image pop
And that's it.  I love using heat on my products to see what they do and I think I need to do it more often.

As Always, thank you for popping in to see what I am up to and don't forget to leave me a comment if you like what you seeee!
Cheers

WOYWW #302 (And Making Dudley Famous)

Well it's Wednesday and I have all my ducks in a row so I am able to link up to this week's "What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday" sponsored by the lovely Julia Dunnit at the Stamping Ground.  So HERE is my desk (the portion I am willing to let  you see this week!)

As you can see, Easter is in full swing, but I am Very Excited to share with you this series of cards I am working on memorializing Mr. Dudley,  a Sock Monkey Extraordinaire who belongs to a friend of mine.  Dudley has many outfits and has travelled the world, so I have decided to create a series of cards showcasing Dudley wearing his many, many hats and including Clever things he would say.  What do you think?  I think he will be a Faaabulous!
Dudley and Pig(Pig is MINE) They are Smitten with Each Other!
I used My Stampbox stamp and painted him using my watercolor paints
Here he is in the beginnings of a birthday card...
And here he is as a Chef, I wonder what Chef Dudley would say?
And Easter is coming, but you will have to come back Saturday to see his reveal for my "E" is for Easter Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers post...
And here are a few other things I have been working on this week, you can scroll down to see the posts on these projects.

And for those of you that are waiting to see my finished mosaic pieces, they are still waiting to be grouted, but I am hoping to have that done for next week's post.

So thanks for popping by to visit my workdesk and if you leave me a comment I will do my very best to go visit you toooo!
Cheers!

Sharing a "Cuppa" with a New Friend...

Happy St. Patrick's Day (or Being Irish Day-grin) to those that Celebrate and Happy Tuesday to everyone else!  I am 25% Irish and  My SIL (son-in-law) is 100% Irish so I embrace this day whole heartedly and I am re-sharing the card I created for my Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge - you still have until Friday to play (just SAYIN"!)
Today I am sending out a quick post to share a brand new site I just popped into, "The Altered Book Lover"   where every Tuesday you can pop in to share a "cuppa" tea with the lovely Elizabeth and her cat Bluebeard.  I happened upon this wonderful little place through Ms. Julia Dunnit's post at The Stamping Ground and as I was drinking my Earl Grey out of my very favorite giant tea mug, found in Hawaii in 2012 and packed and padded to come home in my purse (grin), I just HAD to join in!

So here is my "cuppa" sitting in front of some of my creations from this past seven days.
You can see a pictorial tutorial on the poppy canvas HERE:
You can see another pictorial tutorial on the stamped, jeweled bird card HERE:
and the Dalia flower canvas is still in the process of being created, my second attempt at the poppy canvas technique.

Thank you Ms. Julia Dunnit for sharing this site and THANK YOU Ms. Elizabeth for having me for tea!
Cheers

Sharing one of My FAVORITE Techniques...

Hello Everybody!! It's Friday for another hour and you know what that means... YUP, time for Unity Stamps Friends with Flair. You would think I worked for them, but I DON'T (grin), I just LOVE their stamps and have  waaaay too many not to try and put ink on every single one - which, by the way - I have not done yet.  I have THAT MANY Unity stamps.
So here is my submission for "Friends with Flair" and today I am using one of my brand new Itty Bitty's that I chose as part of my Unity Stamp prize package from last month {Be Inspired} Challenge, called "Folksy Feathers" and one of the reasons I chose this stamp was because I knew it would look great when I used it with one of my very favorite techniques, Painting with STICKLES! This is what the image looked like berfore I painted it using my Ranger's Stickles, stamped onto a piece of cardboard covered in inka golds paint and stamped using my black Stayzon ink....
And THIS Is what it looked like AFTER!
I love everything about this card, especially the fact that the background is one of my inky paper towels that I mod podged onto a piece of heavy cardstock which made making this card pretty quick, pretty simple and Just Plain PRETTY - with all that sparkle!

As Always, thanks for popping by today and don't forget to leave a comment on my blog because every week Unity Stamps always pick one commenter to give a prize away to!
Cheers, and GOOD LUCK!
