My First Post for Altered Eclectics!

Hello Everyone - I am super excited to be sharing with you today my very first creation for Altered Eclectics - a wonderful and inspirational site where you can find an amazing amount number of projects and ideas every single month because you (and we) can make ANYTHING you want without restriction (except a card, grin).  And Since it is almost Christmas you should see the projects that the Design Team created - Swoon.
Here is my first project - a Quick And Easy mixed media Christmas Stocking using a pre-sewn canvas stocking by Canvas Corp and my Fabri-Tac/3-in-1 Glue, NO SEWING involved, and except for drying time this lovely little stocking can be ready in under 30 minutes!

I started with a blank, pre-sewn canvas stocking by Canvas corp....
Step 1: I used my Ranger Dylusion sprays to create a base color and stamped some images for interest using my black Archival ink.

Step 2: I used my Tattered Angels Snowflake mask and contrasting colors of Dylusions sprays to create this lovely snowflake pattern.
Step 3: Is my favorite... who says you can't use Stickles on fabric? Grin. I used my Ranger Stickles and Liquid Pearl and CTMH Liquid Glass to sparkle up the entire stocking...
but this has to dry overnight...
The next morning, when my glitter had dried, I used my Fabri-tac glue to adhere some buttons for accents, that's pretty much it, a lovely little Christmas stocking without sewing a stitch!
I hope you enjoyed this pictorial tutorial and do pop on over to the Altered Eclectic Blog to see some of the other amazing projects the Design Team created (my personal favorite it a garland out of Altered Dominos!)... and we would love to see your creations if you want to share... You have until January 31st for this link up since we give ourselves a break over Christmas - and there is a winner every month chosen by our design team!

Don't forget to leave me some blog lovin' in the form of a comment if you like what you see!

Wishing you a Merry Holiday and Happy Christmas

Now who says you can't stamp on fabric?

"V" is for Vintage!

Yup, it's time for another Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge and this week it is:

 "V" is for Vintage

Now Vintage is not my usual style but I challenged myself to stay true to the art form and would it suprise you to know that I found lots of vintage-y stuff in my stash? Stuff that I have just never used? (grin) so this was a great NBUS exercise as well (Never Before Used SCHTUFF!). Thanks Darnell of DJKardKreations for sharing this with the rest of us!
I used a lot of product on this card from many different vendors including: Stamping-Up's kraft resist cardstock stained with Windsor & Newton's scarlet india ink; Close To My Heart's peel and stick kraft borders; Prima Flowers' jeweled and paper bird; My Minds Eye's princess pearl swirls; and finally Dylusions Dyan Reaveley's "The Right Words" stamp set for that perfect quote!
I hope you are liking what you are seeing and please do pop on over to the Snarky Stampers Blog to see what the rest of my Sisterhood created for the Vintage Challenge. They are always good for a chuckle or a belly laugh and once I even had to clean up coffee off my computer screen! Grin

And if YOU want to play along this challenge you have until December 12th at Midnight to link up your "V" is for Vintage Creation - to be elligible to win one of our AWESOME Queen or Princess of Snark badges for your blog as well as a Guest Designer Spot for our next Challenge... so Who Wouldn't want to play with US?!? Big Giant Smile!
Cheers....

Happy FRIDAY!

It's FRIDAY today! and that means another Unity Stamps' FRIENDS WITH FLAIR!  This is a pre-scheduled blog post as I am right now on a plane winging my way to Manzanillo Mexico for TWO WHOLE WEEKS! Whooo hooo... and if you live in a winter climate like I do (Alberta, Canada) you understand that THIS is one of the highlights of our year and we looked forward to this trip even more than CHRISTMAS!  Happy Dance... But back to the topic at hand... It's Unity Stamps' Friday Friends with Flair today and here is my entry, a card I created using another of Angie Blom's stamps: Blooming Rebecca Girl.

I painted her using my Luminarte Twinkling H2o's because I love how the color layers rather mixing together to make mud.  I cut her out and mounted her on a simple embossed cardstock background because that's all she needs!  So pop on over to the Unity Stamp Blog for some more Friday Inspiration... and thanks for popping in to day to see what I am up to today and I hope I provided a wee bit of inspiration for you too!
Cheers.... Scrapbook Lynne Mizera

Announcing... I Am Now An Altered Eclectic Goddess!

I am so SUPER PUMPED to be able to announce that I am now one of the Design Team "goddesses" for Altered Eclectics... a monthly challenge site where the challenge is to "Make Stuff" and Have FUN!  The fantastically crafty women on this team have me drooling every month and I cannot believe they chose ME to be one of them!

Now I know I said that I was not going to be joining any new design teams going forward this year so I could concentrate on my own work, but when I saw the Design Team Call for one of my favorite Inspirational sites and read the "rules" - Make something (anything except a card) use whatever you want, do whatever you want - link up for the 1st of the month - Have Fun... well how could I NOT Apply!
So I hope you pop in on December 1st to see what I created for my very first Design Team offering and at least come checkout the awesomeness that is Altered Eclectics!  You too can share your crafty amazing-ness with us by linking up your projects - there is a winner every month which we the Design Team choose - none of this Random Org stuff - and you can link up to as many other challenges as you like... How EASY is THAT!?
So stay tuned for my VERY FIRST POST on December 1st (UK time - it will be November 30th in Canada!)

Cheers! Scrapbook Lynne

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #286

It's Wednesday and I am now Addicted to linking up at the Stamping Ground for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday. Today I am sharing a snap of a small piece of my creative space that you can actually see as I am in a panic trying to get all my Christmas packages ready for mail out on Thursday (that would be TOMORROW!) because I am leaving for two GLORIOUS weeks in Manzanillo, Mexico on Friday and won't be back on the frozen ground in the Great White North until Decebmer 13th, way too late to have anything mailed out... You would think I didn't know I was leaving on Friday! (grin)...

So here are some of the cards that I have made throughout the year which I package up and send off every Christmas to family and friends all over the world. And a smart, well-organized person would finish each card when it is created (not just the front) and match it with an envelope and stamp a sentiment inside and place it inside a protective sleeve, so that they wouldn't have to do all of that for dozens of cards the day before they need to be sent off - but I am so NOT that person... so Here I am at 1:00 am frantically stamping and matching and wrapping and drinking wine (grin) but I need to head to bed so I can get up for a Mameogram at 9:00 am... just typing that makes me want MORE WINE!
So pop on over to the Stamping Ground to check out some of the other WOYWW linky's.... It is really addictive!
Cheers

It's Unity Stamps' Friday "Friends With Flair"!

Happy Friday Everyone! and if it's Friday that means it's time for Unity Stamps "Friends with Flair"!  I missed last week's linkup because I was at a retreat from Thursday until Sunday (lucky lucky Me!!!) and did not get my post scheduled in time,  so I worked super hard to make sure I was ready for TODAY! Here is my submission, a card I created using my brand new stamp by Angie Blom - Harmony Girl!

I LOVE Angie's stamps and this one is no exception... I painted her using my long-neglected Luminarte Twinkling H2o's like watercolor paints... which were much easier to use now that I found this awesome paint palette (also by Luminarte). Using these paints added a subtle shimmer that really enhanced the "wetness" of the image...
So pop on over to the Unity Stamp Blog for some inspiration and I hope you garnered a wee bit of inspiration from me today.
Have a Happy Happy Friday!

"P" is for PROFANITY!

I am so excited to be sharing my edgy creation for this week's Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge:

"P" is for Profanity!

I created this BEAUTIFUL Zentangled page and colored it in using my Inktense pencils... I love not only the vibrant colors they give me but also the fact that since these pencils are Ink not Paint the color is waterproof once dried.

I hope you like my little 'tongue-in-cheek" fun I created for this challenge and if you want to unleash a bit of your salty side come play along with us! You have two weeks (until November 28th) to create and upload your interpretation of "P" is for Profanity at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers blog... But do pop by anyway to see what else my Snarky Sisters have created... It sure to be FUN!

Thanks for popping in today to see what I am up to, and please do leave me a comment if you like what you see!
Cheers...

What's On Your Workspace Wednesday #284 (WOYWW)

It's What's On YOUR Workspace Wednesday time over at the Stamping Ground for the 284th time!! And I am back again to share my workspace... even though I have not been able to get any of my other posts for this week finished - grin!  I do love sharing my space and peeking in on a lot of other spaces from people who are sharing from all over the world.  You might want to pop over and check it out.

From these photos you will be able to tell that it is Christmas Card Making Time at my house....

and I am sharing this series of absolutely fantastic Digital Stamps that I fell in love with and purchased from the CrackerBox Palace, an American company which gives you the option of purchasing their images as traditional wooden block or acrylic stamps or as digital stamps that can be downloaded almost immediately.
I am LOVING digital stamps because not only am I able to have them right away, but I can also store them on my computer instead of taking up more space in my studio, and I have the ability to size them to whatever size works for my project and print them out on whatever type of paper works for me at the time.
And since I absolutely LOVE to color (with Copics or watercolor pencils) and to fussy cut my images... it's a match  made in heaven!

I have spent most of my creative time Tuesday night coloring three each of these four images... and now all I have to do is to mount them on a background and find the perfect sayings - and 12 Christmas cards are done!
So thank you for popping in to see what I am up to this week, and please do leave me a comment and let me know if you use/like or would even try using digital stamps!  (And HERE is where you can go see what everyone else is doing on Wednesday!)

Thank you! You Decorate My Life...

Happy Friday!! And you know what that means... It's Unity Stamp's "Friday Friends With Flair" and today I am pumped to be sharing the first Christmas card I have made for 2014 using my brand new Unity stamp called "You Decorate My Life".
Now I needed another Christmas stamp like I needed an extra leg, grin, but when I saw this wee itty bitty guy I didn't even hesitate to hit the "Add to My Cart" button, Bigger Grin! But did you SEE his wee face and that cute tilt to his head?!  Loooooove... I am in Looooove with this little guy!
Now for those who want to know I stamped him using Rangers's Archival Ink because it is waterproof and then I used my long neglected watercolor pencils to color him in, because then you just add water and VOILA he looks painted! Of course I accented him with Ranger's Stickles and CTMH Liquid Glass and I mounted him over some very red cardstock that I embossed using a Sizzix snowflake embossing folder-so this card was quick and Easy Peazy!
Today I am linking him up to:

Thank you for taking the time to pop in and see what I am up to today... and please do leave me a comment if you like what you see!
Cheers!

What's on YOUR Workdesk Wednesday #283!

Yup, It's Wednesday here in Carstairs, Alberta, Canada and I'm sharing my workspace AGAIN with The Stamping Grounds WOYWW#283!  I love this shot I got because you can see my workspace in front of me, my studio behind me and you can see ME! Grin

I am super excited this past week to be working at my own pace on my own stuff (which means NO DEADLINES and NO Design Team projects) and it is amazing to me what my creative soul is producing without the limitations of someone else's needs.  Here are just a few of the canvasses I am working on this week:

a patchwork quilted heart... I need a quote for this one;
a super-textured heart canvas... I think this one is finished now; and
This canvas which has been gessoed over and started again twice... but that I think I might be close to being finished. This is my attempt at using a glue gun to create the trunks and branches of trees... I love feeling the bumpy lumpys of this one!

I tend to have a few projects going at the same time because I hate waiting for stuff to dry but I HAVE to allow the proper amount of drying time or I will ruin my work... so I just start on a second project and then a third canvass and so on and so on until I end up with THIS... A basket full of backgrounds!

all sitting and waiting for that inspirational Ah Ha! moment when I pair the canvas with something... like these Prima dolls...

... Now all I need are the right quotes!

Thanks for stopping by today to see what I am doing.. and please DO leave me a comment if you are liking what you are seeing!

PS... for those of you that wanted to know about Truth Cards and how my 30 Prima doll tags are coming along... I hope to have these posts done up for next week!!!

Cheers!

It's The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #20... "T" is for Thanks (For Nothing!)

Yup it's another Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge#20, T is for THANKS (for nothing).

Sometimes I overthink the process (NO!  YOU? Really?!) and I forget that there are times when Simple and Obvious are really a good way to go.  So after waaaay to much time looking over my stamps and trying to decide what to create, I finally decided to make this CAS (Clean and Simple) card sharing my heart-felt thanks for that gets-me-out-of-bed-and-moving cup of coffee every morning.

Especially right now when the mornings are dark and cold and the very thought of putting my feet down on that cold, cold floor is PAINFUL! Sometimes the thought of that steamy, sweet and creamy cup of coffee is the ONLY thing that makes me throw off the comforter and brave the cold floor! Grin

So please do pop by the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Blog and check out what my other Sisters have created to be Thankful for and why not link up?  You too could aquire that awesome Queen of Snark Badge for your blog and be a guest designer for one of our Challenges... It really is too much fun and you have until November 14th to link up.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I am up to today... and please do leave me a comment if you like what you see.
Cheers! Scrapbook Lynne Mizera

Oops, and for those that want to know I used stamps from Unity Stamps (the saying) and My StampBox (the coffee cup) and Stayzon inks in brown, aqua and red on shiny white cardstock.
