Have You "GELLIED" Yet?

It's SATURDAY!!! And today is the Drunken Stampers Challenge No. 143 - THING - Use a Die Cut... I hope you can find some time to play along with us this week... Just create a card Using any kind of Die cut, post a picture on your blog and then link your blog to the Challenge post at the Drunken Stampers Lounge by Friday, October 4th and you too could win the coveted "Life of the Party" blinky for your Blog!

Here is one of the cards I made for this Challenge.
Now I have a LOT of Dies for my Revolution die cutting machine, but to be honest, since I started playing with paint this year, my dies have been getting a little dusty... So this card challenge made me pull out some of them and Just WAIT until I tell you how I made use of BOTH my Dies and my Paints!

Last weekend I took a class at the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival from Karen Ellis and I got to play with Gelli Plate Mono-printing... basically smearing paint all over a piece of jelly-like substance, laying a stencil over top and then pressing my paper onto it.
You Can Check Karen out at THE ART HOUSE STUDIO She is AWESOME!

You never know what you are going to get and you only GET ONE.... It was seriously messy and SERIOUSLY FUN! and I came home with a whole bunch of prints to use...So when I sat down to make my card using a die cut I was already thinking about how I could incorporate some of my prints into the card and this what I did...

Here is one of my prints
First I cut out my leaves on a 4x4 square of paper; then I used the "negative" or mask instead of the dies cuts and I glued the mask  over top of my gelliprint; the paper is quite thin, almost like tissue paper so it looked just lovely behind the leaf mask.
Since I used my Xyron sticker machine to glue the mask to the print image there were quite a few glue lines showing so I covered the card with micro fine glitter and burnished it to turn an UGLY into an accent!  Then I picked out just one leaf die cut to add to the card as an accent.  I outlined the leaf images with a fine tipped black marker to make them stand out just a little more. And then, because I just LOVE to sparkle, I drizzled some liquid glass onto each leaf and sprinkled even MORE Micro fine glitter... and Voila - a wonderful, unique little card!
So that's it for this week's Drunken Stamper challenge ... Thanks for stopping by and make sure you go and check out what all my Design Team Peeps came up with!
Cheers

Especially For My Friend...

It's Paper Craft Party #6 over at the Handmade Harbour site and the theme this week is Friends or Family which got me thinking, I have a few people in my life that mean so very much to me but I'm not sure if I've ever told them.  My girlfriend Val is one of those people, so this year for her birthday I thought I would make a card that let her know how special she is to me.

To make this card I used one of these cute birds from the Handmade Harbour "Birds" Digi - which I colored with my copic markers.  Then I cut it out and mounted it on a background of textures and layers (kind of like our friendship which has so many layers to it but is ALWAYS fun!)  I love how the background, even though it is complicated, actually enhances the image making it POP right off the page!
And just look at all the bird's you get with this digi!  Here is another card I made using even more of these birds:

and isn't that the most perfect quote?

So why not pop on by the Handmade Harbour site and check out what other yumminess the design team has created for the challenge this week and maybe consider joining in.  Create a card or scrapbook layout with a friends or family theme and link it up to this week's Challenge and if you use an Handmade Harbour digi on your creation you will be eligible to WIN MORE Digis of our choice!  Sweeet!   FREE Handmade Harbour Digis... Thanks AGAIN for stopping by to share. ( I LOVE It when you do..smile) and don't forget to leave me some "blog love" in the form of a comment if you liked it!

Here is what I "whipped up" for the Back2School hop... It's a BOOK BAG - and Don't you just love it?

Now don't let the awesome-ness of this bag fool you - it took less  than two hours to get this beauty finished since all I did was stamp the images using Archival Ink (it's waterproof) and colored it all in using Sharpie Markers - YUP, Sharpies!!

I doodled a little with a fine tipped black pen just to highlight a few images like the hearts on the tree but that's about it.  Once I was finished I ironed the entire bag with very hot iron to set the inks so now I can wash it without too much fading.

What a great, affordable project for the entire family - I found this canvas bag at a dollar store for $5!  Some ink, stamps and markers and you're done!
The Other Side

I think this is an awesome project for children of any ages, but especially your teens.... buy the BIG set of colored sharpies, provide some stamps, and then get out of their way!

Now if you REALLY want to get funky... add some brads, some rhinestones, some ribbon, a hot glue gun and just wait to see what they do!  Hmmm.... I still have another bag... I might just do that myself!

Thanks for stopping by (hopping by??) and don't forget, when you are done hopping, to leave a comment back at the Susan K. Weckesser Blog about one of the projects that made an impression on you for a chance to win that amazing prize package!
Cheers!

What is YOUR Definition of "True Love"?

This week I wanted to share a scrapbook page with you and tell you why scrapbooking gives me so much joy.  It's because scrapbooking is my way of creating a tangible record of the moments in my life that I want to remember in detail.  And I know for a fact that you THINK you're going to remember these special moments forever, but unless you have a photo and the story written down somewhere - you WON'T remember - especially the details. This page called LIZARD LOVE represents the "Why" of my scrapbooking perfectly, because the photo does not give you the back story but the scrapbooked page does.  And I wanted this page to memorialize forever the moment I realized just how much my husband really loves me:

THE BACKSTORY:  I LOVE Creepy Crawly things, snakes, spiders and lizards ( I always have) but my big, burly raised-in-the-country Husband DOES NOT!  And on this afternoon in Mexico we ended up at an Iguana Farm - and the ONLY reason he went in was because he knew just how much I wanted to go!
Now the "farm" was an enclosure about the size of a small backyard, totally covered in chicken wire, even the roof had chicken wire on it, so you felt totally TRAPPED once you got in, and there were cell-like enclosures each containing a different stage of the development of the Iguana, starting with the eggs and leading up to the adults.  The adult lizards had the largest cell because there were about 100 of them and we were the ONLY ones in there... (have you got the picture yet?)

Now I don't know if you have ever been around a LOT of iguana's all at once, but it is kinda creepy, because all the adults turn to look at you at almost the same time, and then they FREEZE staring at you... NOT moving  a muscle, not even blinking! It is totally intense, and SUPER Creepy even if you LIKE them.  But my husband not only went in ... he even took some photos of me when I got to hold one of the babies ... and you can tell by the look on my face just how much I LOVE baby lizards!

When we left the farm and were once again safely in the back seat of our hired car, I got a look at my husband's face and realized just what an AMAZING thing he had done for me... and it was at that  moment when I really KNEW that money can't buy everything because no amount of money could ever buy me the gift he had given me that day and Forever... because for me This is TRUE GROWN-UP ADULT LOVE!

So in the crazy, busy lives we lead today I really encourage you to stop and take an hour to record some of those truly meaningful moments you have with your friends and family because it will be really, really worth it one day!

Thanks for stopping by again today to share with me, and don't forget to leave me a comment if I touched your life in some small way!
Cheers!  Scrapbook Lynne
Note: On this layout I used Susan K. Weckesser's Whymsical Paper Line, some liquid glass and LOTS Of doodling

Now, How Cute is THIS?!

Boy it's been a busy "creative" week and I have so much more to share!  But come on How could I NOT share this card I made up with yet ANOTHER Handmade Harbour Image?  This one is called "the Washing Line" and took some liberties by printing it twice and adding more birds..
This image really appealed to me because I have always HATED doing laundry - but when I came across this quote I started looking at doing laundry in an entirely different light... And now that I have a clothes line (and I am home all day)  it's kind of fun!  NOTE:  I will totally deny I ever said this if my husband asks... grin.
Now for those of you that are interested... I colored the clothes with my sparkly gel pens and used my copic markers on the posts; I cut the flowers from some really old card stock I had lying around and I cut it all out and popped everything using foam dots and embellished with stickles as always.  I TYPED the sentiment on my new favorite toy a 1940's portable typewriter that I found in my local second hand store - I LOVE IT!

Something "FUN" with Handmade Harbour...

This week at Handmade Harbour Challenge#4 is to create something Fun or Funny, and with the beginning of the school year this month I thought I would send off a little encouragement card to my Grandson #2 who is starting Grade 1 this year.  I created this card using this SUPER CUTE Digi "Monster with Sign" and I picked the "Well Done" sentiment because it works for this card - but Mr. Monster comes with three other sentiments you can use on his sign, or you can create your own.

I added some googly eyes that I picked up in a dollar store about three years ago so it's about time they got used, and some fuzzy fiber to ceate some hair.  Mr. Monster came out so well I have a feeling I will be making a series of cards with him as the feature.  And for those of you that want to know, I used copic markers to color my monster and some of my older Basic Grey patterned paper for the card base.
So pop on by the Handmade Harbour blog today and see what FUN Stuff my teammates have created this week and why not consider entering a card of your own... AND, if you use one of the Handmade Harbour digis you will qualify to win STUFF!

Thanks for stopping by to share with me again today - SMILE - Have a GREAT Week!

You... Yes YOU... Amazing YOU!

Hello all you lovely, sparkling people out there!   Today I want to share with you something I created to lift up my spirits when I need a little encouragement... my "Sparkling Kitty".  She is a wooden image made by my Uncle George, and she is supposed to sit on an outside door frame to scare the mice away.
But my wee Kitty sits in my studio and brings me joy whenever I look at her.  She also helps to empower me and encourage me whenever I am feeling a teensy bit insecure about whatever I am working on - because I too have days when I feel like I'm just not good enough!
But I created "Kitty" to remind me to "Never Let Anything Dull My Sparkle" and to "Allow my true, authentic self to shine out" and that "I am FINE exactly how I am right now"  Right?
So I covered "Kitty" with Susan Weckesser's patterned paper and then, because I LOVE to sparkle, I totally BLINGED her out using  a lot of Want2Scrap embellishments.   And to really bring it all home, I pasted every good word I could think of to every part of her.
This Kitty makes me smile - she makes me feel good - and she sparkles -  Everyone should have one!
Thanks for stopping by to share with me again today you beautiful, incredible, lovely soul!
Cheers!!! Lynne Mizera, (Smile)

Be the Change YOU Want to SEE in the World...

The Drunken Stampers are doing Challenge #140 - Buttons this week and Chromatic Craze's Challenge provided my color pallet and gave me the germ of an idea for a background.  I know it's not my turn in the Drunken Stampers Lounge this week but I wanted in on the action (grin)

Here's the Chromatic Craze Color Challenge

I ended up with this card that I made for a friend using some of the new arty techniques I learned this spring.  I haven't shared any ARTY Stuff with you for a while so I am excited about this card I made with watercolors, some Twinkling H2O's and dylusions sprays.

Believe it or not I have a tough time with buttons - even though I seem to have a Whole Lot of Them saved up - so I did what I do these days when I am stuck - I went to Pinterest and did a search for cards using buttons... and Holy Smokes - what a bunch of creative people we have out there!  After that little meander through Pinterest the creative juices started flowing and I just love what evolved.  Now, just in case you too have a button HOARD that you want to use up I am including the link to all that Pinterest awesomeness but BE WARNED... This site may cause you to lose time (Big GIANT Smile!) CARDS USING BUTTONS - PINTEREST

To create my background I used 120lbs watercolor paper, wet it down and splashed a whole lot of watercolor paint all over it.  Then, while it was still wet, I sprinkled the paper with salt and let it dry, when I brushed off the salt I had this amazing textured look.  To create the button tree I stamped an image of a tree and filled it in with buttons, and then I drew in some leaves along the outside edges and painted them with my Twinkling H20's - It only took about 15 minutes to make the tree, mostly because I kept changing around my buttons.
Because I just couldn't find the right sized letters or right styled letters for my card I ended up just doodling in my sentiment using a black waterproof ink pen and because it seemed just too plain I painted over my lettering using my Dylusion sprays - yup Dylusions as paint - Now THAT'S Cool!

You can see how the ink bled across the watercolor paper but I really liked the effect.  So why not drop by and see what everyone else created?
CHEERS!
Lynne
